We encourage you to nominate teachers working in the schools of southwestern Ohio. One award will be given to a history teacher of grades K-6, and one to a history teacher of grades 7-12. Each awardee will receive a unique sculpture, a framed citation, and an honorarium of $1000.
The deadline to submit names is March 31. For more on how to nominate a teacher, click on our “Jim Blount Educator Award” page (link on banner above).
We look forward to your response!
This month’s award of the annual John E. Dolibois History Prize to Professor William Cronon provided a thought-provoking opener to this spring’s line-up of events. Those of us treated to Prof. Cronon’s eye-catching presentation were challenged to pay closer attention to our own environment and the history that surrounds us.
Thinking about our own community and its evolution is a fitting keynote to our current theme: “Bridging Past & Future: Hamilton and the Miami Valley of Ohio, 1800-2013.” Coming to Miami Hamilton Downtown Tuesday, February 28 at 7 pm, our friend Dave Belew, former President of Beckett Paper Company, shares his life experiences before a live TvHAMILTON audience as part of the “What’s Your Story?” oral history project.
